On this day in 1981, four Armenian gunmen seize the Turkish Consulate, taking 56 people hostage for 16 hours in Paris, France. During the siege, Armenian gunman Kevork Guzelian shoots and seriously wounds Consul Kaya Inal and a Turkish security officer, Mr. Cemal Ozen.
